Getting a Library Card

Getting a BCPL card is easy and there is no additional charge! You can complete an application at any location with current picture ID and proof of address; it only takes a few minutes.  For youth 17 years old and younger, bring a parent or legal guardian with their information.

If you don’t have the required proof, live outside the county, have an issue with an old account, or just not sure about getting a library card, contact the library.  Staff will help you get a library card.

New borrows are limited to five items for the first 30 days; after that you can borrow up to 50 items per card.

Most items have a loan period of three weeks; Movies and Checkout Your Community items can be borrowed for one week.

As a convenience, items will automatically renew one time for most items that are not being held for another patron.

Loan Periods and Fees

All library items can be returned to any location of Boyd County Public Library.  All locations also have drive-up materials returns.

BCPL does not charge late fees on any library materials or on any type of account!

However, we do charge for materials kept longer than 30 days past the due date or for damaged items.

For much more information on library cards and borrowing see BCPL Library Policies or give the library a call at 606.329.0090.
