Auction raises funds for BCPL Friends

Winners in the second annual Community Scarecrow Display and Auction, sponsored by Boyd County Public Library Friends, were announced Oct. 25.

  • Most Creative: Wild Thing, made by Dee Plummer’s kindergarten class at Hager Elementary
  • Most Original: Miz Kitty, made by Betty Johnson for the Ashland Red Hat Aristocats
  • Scariest: 4-H Rock Star, made by Hatcher Elementary 4-H Club
  • Funniest: Batty About Reading, made by Nancy Wyse’s kindergarten class at Hager Elementary
  • The People’s Choice Award, based on voting done in the library from Oct. 15-24, went to Miz Kitty, made by Betty Johnson.

A silent auction held during the display period generated more than $400 for the Friends, which uses its funds to support library programs and services.

Note: You can view pictures (1) individually by selecting them from the drop-down menu at the left above, (2) page through them manually by pressing the >> or << arrow buttons or (3) view an automated slideshow by pressing the "Start" button. (On the slideshow, pictures appear about 10 seconds apart. And, note, the slideshow works best with a broadband connection; obviously, you're welcome to try the slideshow with dialup, but it may be sluggish in loading the images and, as a result, may get out of correct sequence.)
