Free safety classes
Red Cross classes on Mondays in March

The library is partnering with the American Red Cross to offer free classes on health and safety throughout March. The classes will be at the Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave., at 6:30 p.m. The dates and topics are as follows (note: no class on March 17):

  • March 3: Safe Families: Ready for Anything. This will cover disaster preparedness, home fires, floods, etc.
  • March 10: Service to Armed Forces. This program explains the many services the Red Cross provides to soldiers and their families.
  • March 24: Save a Life. Topics include emergency procedures, basic first aid, heart attack and stroke signs.
  • March 31: Be Red Cross Ready for Kids (and parents). Safe babysitting and lifeguard training information will be presented.

Classes are coordinated by the Boyd County chapter of the Red Cross. Each should last about an hour. For more information, call (606) 329-0090.
