Library
adds
PS3 games
iPod
book list growing, too
The
library continues to add new video games and iPod book titles to
its collection. Now library card holders can check out PlayStation
3 games, in addition to the Xbox, Xbox 360 and PS2 games already
available. There is also a growing number of computer games and
interactive DVD games.
“Since
the PS3 is such a popular gaming system, we wanted to offer the
games to our patrons,” said Kellie Nunley, supervisor of the
technical services department, which purchases the games and other
materials for the library district. “So, if Santa brought
you a PS3 for Christmas, come to the library and check out some
games for it.”
Also, the library
will be adding some games that are rated M (mature). Previously,
only games rated T (teen) or E (everyone) were available for checkout.
The library
added video games to its checkout options last spring, and they
have proven very popular. There are currently more than 150 titles
available. All the games are housed at the Main Branch in Ashland.
But they can be sent to the Summit or Catlettsburg branches for
pickup. To reserve a copy using the library catalog, visit any branch
of go to www.thebookplace.org
Games can be
checked out for seven days. No renewals are allowed.
The library
has also been adding books that can be checked out on an iPod. When
this service first started in 2006, the iPods were only available
to teens, but now anyone can get an iPod book.
