Food drive for animals in May
Library collecting pet food at Main Branch

A youth-driven food drive for homeless animals will take place throughout the month of May at the library. Kids 18 and under will get a ticket for every can of pet food they bring to the Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave., from May 1-31. Each ticket enters them into a drawing for animal-themed book. There is no limit to the number of entries.

Deborah Jonas, information specialist in the youth services department, said animal programs at the library have shown the importance of pets to library users. “This food drive was an opportunity to connect this concern with a local need.”

All the food collected will be given to local animal shelters.

For more information, call Jonas at (606) 329-0090, ext. 1310.
