Gardening for your Health

Learn how gardening can improve your health, and the health of our planet, during a program at the library.

Boyd County Master Gardener Don Tillack of Catlettsburg will present “Gardening for your Health” two times: Tuesday, April 8, at 6 p.m. at the Summit Branch, 1016 Summit Road; and Wednesday, April 9, at noon at the Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave.

Both classes are free and advance registration is not required.

“Gardening is a great way to exercise and can also contribute to our mental and emotional health. It can also save a great deal of money, which improves our financial health,” Tillack said.

The program will cover seed starting, transplanting, site selection, soil preparation, composting, mulching and organic gardening techniques. Different types of gardens and pest and disease control will also be discussed.
