Reading Garden
Project 2005-2006

This photo essay shows the development of the new Reading Garden, from the site preparation in May 2005 to the Grand Opening in April 2006. The Reading Garden ties the library in with The Library Commons, a joint venture of the library district and the city of Ashland to blend in nicely with adjacent Central Park. "The Reading Garden provides a charming bridge between the library and the park," said Director Debbie Cosper. "It transforms what was a mismatched building and an uninspiring span of grass into something extraordinary."

Note: You can view pictures (1) individually by selecting them from the drop-down menu at the left above, (2) page through them manually by pressing the >> or << arrow buttons or (3) view an automated slideshow by pressing the "Start" button. (On the slideshow, pictures appear about 10 seconds apart. And, note, the slideshow works best with a broadband connection; obviously, you're welcome to try the slideshow with dialup, but it may be sluggish in loading the images and, as a result, may get out of correct sequence.)
