Carter Seaon
Nov. 6, 2007

Huntington artist and author Carter Taylor Seaton visited with us to talk about her writing and her other passions. Seaton has won awards for both her writing and her sculpting. She is also a certified scuba diver and marathon runner, starting the latter hobby after she turned 50.

Her first novel, Father’s Troubles, was published in October 2003, and named as a finalist in the historical fiction category in ForeWord Magazine’s 2003 Book-of-the-Year awards. She is currently doing research for a non-fiction book about the impact of the back-to-the-land movement of the 1960s and 70s on the cultural climate of West Virginia. Her sculptures, made from water-based clay, fired and finished in a variety of patinas, have been exhibited regionally and nationally, and have won awards in Georgia, West Virginia and Kentucky. She makes no casts of her work, so all her pieces are unique.
