Most print items check out for 21-days (primarily books, magazines, and audiobooks). Most media checks out for 7-days (entertainment movies, music, and software).  And a bit of the collection is library use only (newspapers, genealogy and local history, and pop-up books).  The library also has a growing collection of materials available for downloading to a computer or MP3 player.
